My work is a continual attempt to understand the personality of a moment by examining the relationship between the human figure and its surrounding environment. Poetry is discovered by questioning this relationship. A narrative is created out of this process of questioning; a narrative without an ending. The viewer must complete this narrative by bringing their personal experience to it. The moment is, at times, synthesized by casting the viewer in an interactive role with the moment represented.
I approach portraiture as an actor would approach a character study. I read personality through facial expression and props surrounding the sitter. Some of the images are interpretations of individuals as characters in roles of my invention.
